The fabrics we use are made from industrial and post-consumer waste such as fishnets, carpets, plastic bottles and textiles that would otherwise be going to landfill and polluting our lands and oceans. The fashion industry is the second most polluting industry in the world after oil, which is why it’s so incredibly important to buy products that have been created mindfully.
According to Plastic Pollution, in 2018 there will be more than 300 million tonnes of plastic that is produced worldwide. Every year, 8 million metric tons of plastic end up in our oceans, which is equivalent to five grocery bags filled with plastic for every foot of coastline…that’s horrendous!!! With Rompus, we focus on reusing the plastic that is already in the world to make something that is versatile, sustainable, durable and wonderful. Instead of using virgin polyester in our swimwear, we use recycled polyester which means it has a 90% lower carbon footprint.
